Does anyone know if the carb listed on the Explore pastas are given for dried weight?
I think they are, but it is unusual for the packaging to be so clear, as many give the carbs after it is cooked.

My interpretation is that it is dry weight, well that is what I use.

What’s the carb amount? That should give you a clue as to whether it’s dried weight or cooked weight @SB2015

The one I have at the moment is Liberto, fettuccini
per 100g calories 347, fat 8g, carbs 15g, of which sugars 9g, fibre 18g, protein 44g, salt 0.03g.
I still thing pasta is confusing with carbs content.

That looks like cooked weight, I’d think, depending on what’s in it. I’ve had a red lentil pasta and it was around 38g carbs per 100g dry weight. They all seem to be around that figure.

The only ingredients listed are edamame green soya beans.

So my guess would stand - the carbs you gave are for cooked weight.
Next time I will weigh the cooked pasta, I normally cook 20g dry weight and that is plenty for a portion. I still think it will be quite low in carbs.
I have just been looking and some of the non wheat pasta is just as high in carbs.

Looking at Quora and a couple of other places the consensus is that it is the carbs for dry weight so what is on the packet is for how it is packaged so dry.

Yes, it’s lower in carbs than wheat pasta, for sure, but not as low as 18g carbs per 100g dry weight, I’d say.

Wheat pasta is something like 75g carbs per 100g dry weight.

I have just looked on the Explore web site and in the FAQ it says the nutritional information is based on dry weight of the product.

I’ve looked too and it says it has 20g carbs per 56g dry weight, so that’s around the 40g per 100g dry weight that I said 🙂

The Liberto one you mentioned must be cooked weight, as I guessed, as I doubt it would differ so much and only have 15g carbs per 100g dry weight.

Yes @Leadinglights As I said, that Explore one is dry weight. However, the Liberto one you were talking about sounds like it’s cooked weight.

This pasta is new to me, is it tasteless and have the same consistency as wheat pasta?

This pasta was a good carrier for a tasty bolognaise, and a meal of just 20 g carbs.
No spike, no complicated calculations.
