Hi Everyone,

I have been cycling regularly on my exercise bike and between that and tweaking my diet, my numbers are getting lower....yay!

Just tested before lunch and 6.2! I'm so pleased.

Donna 🙂

Keep going Donna, well done. Once dad started to do regular exercise we noticed a more even end to his BG levels and recently figures we didn't think he could achieve. I know sometimes numbers can be crazy but we try to keep meal and exercise times to be within a regular time space which seems to really help.

Really pleased to read your post 🙂

well done, keep at it. I too found that with regular excercise i get better numbers. I do lots of walking and go to the gym and have been keeping it up now for the last year or so 🙂

Well done Donna, that's a good result. I love cycling, but outside, I haven't done so much lately and I'm missing it, but I do walk a lot and I'm always busy doing something 🙂

Long may it continue for you. Sheena

Thats brilliant Donna - well done x

Excellent!

Just watch that HbA1c start dropping as a consequence of all this exercise!

Andy 🙂

Thanks for the support everyone.

I must admit since getting on the exercise bike and walking the dogs, the bg levels have gone down quite dramatically.

Thanks again,
Donna x🙂

I find fitting exercise into my diabetes a little bit difficult at times... I have lunch very early, usually at about 11:30am-12ish, and by the time my exercise class starts at either 7 or 8 pm all of the Humalog is gone and my bloods have started to rise a little. If I don't eat something before the class and have a shot of Humalog my bg after is sometimes through the roof!
I understand why that happens but the thing I always wonder about is if there is food in my tummy... Will my body just use that for energy or will it gobble up my fat bits instead....?!
What do you guys think?

You need 'circulating' insulin so that the glucose in your blood can be used for energy whilst you are exercising, plus you also have energy stored in your muscles and liver. The weight loss tends to come from more from the after-effects of the exercise, which last long after you have stopped, so the little bit of food you have beforehand won't really offset it 🙂 For example, I go for a run in the morning which burns around 500-1000 calories, but I do this after having a breakfast of one slice of buttered toast - about 70 calories, so I'm using far more energy than I've consumed 🙂

Well done Donna. I bet you feel great.
I find I'm better if I eat after exercise and just have a snack before I have a run but I'm on a pump.
Hope the levels stay good 🙂
