Lifestyle changes can benefit those with Syndrome X ? a condition which can otherwise raise the risk of heart disease.
There is increasing concern over Syndrome X ? sometimes also known as metabolic syndrome ? where people have high cholesterol, high blood pressure and insulin resistance. Having Syndrome X greatly increases the chance of heart disease, according to research.

Drugs can be prescribed for Syndrome X but, so far, they have not been found to be very effective. So researchers at Duke University in the US have been looking at the impact of lifestyle change on Syndrome X. A group of 53 participants were assigned to either exercise alone, exercise plus a weight loss program, or their usual lifestyle.
