Hi Guys

Hope you all had a very happy easter - not one was consumed and I am glad I have not succumbed, although the cravings were all there 🙂

Why does your bg levels go up after a stint on the exercise bike? Still fighting the higher numbers in the morning but they are coming down. Have lost a bit of weight about 3 kilos this week so a happy bunny.

Donna x🙂

Hi Donna, that's a great weight loss, well done! 🙂 Some people find that their levels go up with exercise, a lot can depend on what they are to start with (plus when you ate beforehand of course).Exercise can release stress hormones which prompt the liver to release an extra 'boost', but being diabetic makes it difficult to handle the extra glucose and your levels rise.

I'm a bit odd (I know!) in that, when I go for a run my levels stay more or less the same up to a certain distance (around 6 miles currently) then I have to top up with jelly babies. With some people, their levels start to fall as soon as they start even considering doing anything active! 🙄

Don't worry though, unless the rises are really large. The exercise will be very beneficial for your total health, so don't let a small rise in levels put you off 🙂
