New diabetes Tech is soo exciting! Hope it is everything you hope for and more!

When do you do your training and get set up? It's a good pump, hope you like it too 🙂

Grainger - Bruce is correct and furthermore - my DSN was really disappointed when I said I hadn't payed with anything beforehand when I had my first pump and we were given a 'dummy' one to play with. She said everyone else had, so oops and annoyed with myself that I hadn't. I'm not actually suggesting you play with insulin or inserting a cannula - but think playing with the buttons on the keypad and getting used to the feel of it in your hand or pocket would be a good idea. The Tslim reservoir is utterly different - so you really need an actual physical demo to see how they work - I had a demo hence I can say that.

Are they steel cannulas?

Actually you will need to charge the pump up before you go for the training, or you won’t be able to do anything with it!

Yep steel cannulas as my body isn’t a fan of the others I discovered with my Medtronic.

My email says don’t open yet. I’ll get an email with my training dates soon and I’m sure it’ll tell me to charge it up etc then.

Everyone loves new tech - just seen a post on Linked In that says Medtronic have launched a CGM integrated smart insulin pen that integrates insulin dosage from the Pen in an App with blood sugar readings from Guardian Connect. Probably a few years before we see this in the UK.....

Hopefully in the next week - just waiting for the next email

Ooh I bet you can’t wait to get going @grainger!

Will you be running sensors too?

That’s the plan. I’ve subscribed to dexcom for a year so should be able to.

im still waiting on training appointment so it’s still just sat in a box at the min. Haven’t told them I’m self funding dexcom yet so will need to let them know once I have a date I guess?!
Are you combining?

Yes I have been self funding Dexcom since just before I started with it (the rep suggested I had an active sensor session running for the training session).

I have been very impressed, especially since upgrading the pump to the newer Control IQ. (you can update thespftware on the pump with a USB cable when there is a new version as ling as you‘ve had an upgrade code).

It will be interesting to see if the 5-10% extra ‘Time in Range’ I am getting most days translates to a lower HbA1c when I next get one.

Best of luck with it, the pump will change your life

I’m really looking forward to starting, but as with all change slightly nervous.

hoping to get the training date soon

Officially up and running! So excited - just wish I’d started the day with better numbers 🙂

Well it was coming down by the time the sensor got going anyway @grainger - and at least it shows that whatever you'd already done, worked !!

Great stuff @grainger!

Is that Control IQ or Basal IQ?
