Covid-19 infections in the UK are reducing but remain stubbornly high, despite a month of lockdown measures. So could we be doing more as individuals to curb transmission of the virus? A virologist, a psychologist and a public health expert share their views on some of the Covid-19 mistakes that we are all still making.

Some useful information 🙂

Have you watched any of the Indie Sage Scientist's broadcast's? We watch them every week, on You Tube.

That's a bit scary. Puts me off getting the bus for a start. :( I have to go out for food though, what can you do!? I didn't have much luck with online shopping. Iceland still owe me £12 for a box of Felix and the rest of the order was a shambles, put me right off.

They are a group of scientists that have been doing weekly open meetings since the start of the pandemic, some are also members sage. They have members of the the public ask questions. They also do bits of research which they publish on their website.

there has been no street cleansing in ages. how the hell do they expect to keep on top of any infection if they can't be bothered to get out on the streets to collect rubbish, road sweep, clear drains just no nothing. it is getting a disgrace in our area.

Well we have had no disruption to refuse collections here, we have even had regular collections of garden waste even though some nearby councils stopped.

So have we @grovesey though we have to pay for garden waste removal, so we opted out of that - there was only anything in the green bin a few times a year anyway. And when we have some it just goes in with the household waste. Since it goes to the tip, that bit will just rot down before what's been emptied out of the vacuum cleaner and potato peelings etc.

i checked with my step sister who lives in w yorks and they are operating as normal. all we are getting is refuse collection but anything else has gone out of the window. they still expect council tax not sure exactly what for if it is only for bins. i used to see police quite often and there is no signs of them.

i did get a letter sometime before Xmas lack of maintenance and they gave me a payment of and get this £2 sum

not sure what is going on around here but it is getting very unhealthy to say the least.

when an infection is running amok the last thing you want is to be adding to it.

As I do a lot of gardening I have 2 garden bins, ours is still free to empty. Some fortnights, we have not not got much room in ordinary bin, as a couple of years a ago our bin disappeared and the council now only give a smaller bin unless you are are a much larger family.

Haven't experienced any slowdown in services here, they were even out taking the recycling away during the heavy snow we had a week or two ago 🙂 Actually, one thing that struck me when I first moved up here was how clean it all was 🙂 I think some councils suffer more because they may have more people with council tax exemptions, hence less revenue. Central government have cut funds to local government by 40% over the past decade, and that has also hit some poorer councils hardest :(
