EPQ - Type 1 Diabetes

Hi Everyone, I am a new member! 🙂

I am at risk of developing t1d as a close family member of mine has it.

I am currently in Year 12, and want to base my EPQ on T1d, however, I am unsure of what my main focus should be.

I am thinking perhaps the different ways to manage t1d, or any potential 'cures' for it?

Could anyone provide any other interesting ideas/questions to explore?

Any suggestions,links,studies ect. would be extremely helpful.

You also need to think about where you are heading long-term and how you can use your EPQ to show you have the skills needed plus it can't include things that are on your A level/level 3 courses.

eg. If you are heading towards Medicine/Nursing, then you could look at the info on the NHS website critically and then research the usefulness/accuracy/comparison with other developed countries to identify best practice.

If Psychology is your thing, look at the psychological impact of diagosis, the support available and the impact it has

If Maths/stats is your focus you could look at the instance of T1 and T2 in different populations eg birth sex, ethnicity in Uk and elsewhere - check that the data is published and available before committing

Remember to take soundings from your EPQ tutor before starting in case the question/methodology you choose isn't a good idea.
