Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi all, I have type 1 diabetes. Can my employer force me to be on call, this would mean getting up at any time of the day or night getting straight into the van and arriving at work within 1 hour, is this unreasonable?

No it isn't 🙂
I worked for many years as a herdswoman which meant being on call 24/7 in the calving season. Same for lambing or harvest.

You have a blood sugar monitor jelly babies and insulin so can live a normal life.

I don’t see what would be unreasonable about it. Just keep a work bag ready to take in the van with meter, snacks, and insulin.

How long would it take to drive to the site?
If that's what the job entails I would think reasonable as long as they accept there may need to be a delay in case of a hypo..

Can't think on what grounds it would be unreasonable, had few jobs & never expected employers to make allowances.
