Many thanks for posting. It's very encouraging to hear that you are OK on the medicine. I am expecting to receive mine within a day or two.I've been on empagliflozin at the same dose as you for some time, and haven't really noticed any side-effects.
That said, people can react differently to medicines, so I would look through the possible side-effects and check whether or not they are happening to you. Particularly note diabetic ketoacidosis as something to avoid.
Best of luck!
I'm on the plain old non-sr metformin but my stomach seems to tolerate it well. I have some ketosticks from when I was on a very low carb diet. I'll check my ketone levels for a week or two and then if I feel dodgy.@Reptile welcome to the forum. I hope you have the SR metformin as it is said to be better for your stomach. I take dapaglifozin which is also a SGLT2. I was told you need to eat a reasonable amount of carbs in your diet with it say 130 gms. I was given ketostix to test my pee if I felt unwell. I've only tested 3 x in 9 months and reading was normal.
I always make sure I read the leaflet from the packet and DiabetesUK has info about the meds.
Goodluck
The ketoacidosis which is a potential risk with the 'flozin' meds if following a very low or keto diet which is not advised is euglycemic ketoacidosis.I'm on the plain old non-sr metformin but my stomach seems to tolerate it well. Did anyone suggest any behaviours to reduce the risk of ketoacidosis?
I was simply pointing out that it would be a pretty neat idea to avoid it !Did anyone suggest any behaviours to reduce the risk of ketoacidosis?
Avoiding going too low carb will reduce the risk of DKA. You still need to watch out for it though, gave me DKA within a week and I don’t low carb.At the moment, I am struggling to find a set of behaviours to reduce the risk of ketoacidosis
