ECG report

Hi all. Just had review meeting with dr. I have experienced a couple of gastric episodes in the past 18 months so the gp did an ecg just in case. Results ‘normal’ but slight st depression (whatever that means!) still within normal range but hospital have requested repeat ecg. Dr says not concerned as all within normal range but me being me, am of course concerned! Anyone else had this?

Hi Katie, I think the 's' and 't' refer to the points of electrical activity in the heart on the trace. I'm not a doctor of course, but I did get quite a lot of ECGs in the weeks and months after my diagnosis. The thing that stood out on mine was an 'inverted t-wave' which meant that I was getting a 'down' when I should have had an 'up' - something disrupting my normal heart rhythm. a 'slight st depression' sounds like perhaps the s and t aren't as pronounced as might normally be expected. Despite the fact that my T-wave was inverted it had no effect on my health and corrected itself in time. I was given a clean bill of health and designated 'low risk' 🙂

Hopefully, it is something similar in your case - unusual, but not concerning, and the repeat will be normal 🙂
