I’m going to the USA for three weeks in July. My annual Hba1c review will fall the week I get back. I know that the test is based on the previous twelve weeks but I’m a wee bit anxious that my eating behaviour in the USA might distort my numbers.
My BG is generally very satisfactory when I am in full control of my diet but I’m going to be moving around, staying with distant relations and I don’t want to be over fussy about what I can and won’t eat.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation and how did you cope?

Are you able to get your HbA1C done before you go and then you can relax a bit whilst away and get back on track as soon as you are back.
Making good food decisions hopefully will have become second nature and your relatives will be understanding if you just say No Thank You to some foods or even leave some when you judge that you have had enough.

Unfortunately, I can’t get my review before I go on holiday. I think you’re correct with your second point.

The system is obviously different where you are, I can normally get the blood test form issued before my review so the results are there to be discussed. The surgery does not take blood and we have to book at the local pharmacy when convenient. It works very well.

The system here is an appointment to take blood then an appointment a week later to discuss results. I go off at the start of July so I would have to get the first appointment in the next couple of weeks which might not suit their tight schedule. No harm in asking of course.

Same for me - I just wander into the surgery, get a form and go and get it done at a Pharmacy.
They've never actually told me when to get one done, I just do it when I feel like it!

I receive a text to book for Diabetes Bloods at the GP surgery.
