I already do and a cooked tomato, ton garlic and a red onion. 🙂

Michael Greger (of How Not To Die fame) has a Daily Dozen. I don’t stick strictly to it but I do try to get in as many as possible:

Second mortgage time for Olive Oil these days. It’s risen in price astronomically!

Yes, shocking! I couldn’t believe the prices when I bought a new bottle a couple of weeks ago. Even the cheaper own brand ones have gone up massively. I resorted to buying 250ml bottles rather than my usual 500ml.

I skimmed that book. Interesting, but how do you fit it all in? Today I had huge cooked breakfast and then really you don't need to eat again till 8 but I was being piggy so tried to have ham salad with beetroot and ended up feeding it to the magpies. Yuck. Now I've got cauli steaming with some grated cheese to go on top. I don't want it. I want to airfry the frozen chips from the freezer with a fried egg... :D

I go for as many of the Daily Dozen as I can @Ditto even if I don’t eat the amount he says. So, for example, I fit Grain, Flaxseeds, Nuts and Berries into breakfast usually. Then I usually have a salad and/or greens, trying to fit a cruciferous veg in too, along with some non-green veg. I’m not strict on the quantities, I just try to get the variety.

I’ve also increased the amount of mushrooms I eat and have them two or three times a week. This is because of Joel Fuhrman’s GBombs: Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and Seeds:

I kind of go for a mix of Daily Dozen and GBombs over the week. They’re pretty similar but less to remember with the GBombs! I also buy fresh herbs like mint, parsley and coriander and have got into the habit of adding those to salads or bakes or just sprinkling them over stuff.

Oh yes, fungi, I have those daily as well. Wouldn't know where to start with beans though unless they were Heinz 57!

I'm thinking of giving the liquid diet another whirl as this is one more week gone by and I'm still as fat and unhealthy as ever. :(

Hummus is a good start, as is buying beans in tins to begin with: chickpeas, borlotti beans, black beans, cannellini beans, soya beans, flageolet beans, red kidney beans, etc I notice that Merchant Gourmet also does some pouches of pre-cooked and flavoured lentils. It’s not so easy to get lentils in tins and I prefer the fresh cooked ones, but they’re easy to cook.

Good in soups, on salads, with meat/fish, in stir fries, in chillis, in curries, in stews, etc. Michael Greger and his ilk have lots of recipes as does Dan Buettner (Blue Zones guy).
