An amusing little video came across my FB news feed today, especially for the newbies it gives a perspective as to why the food pyramid & eatwell plates are not particularly good advice....

A nice easily assimilated message that tells it as it is and turns the NHS "Eat Badly Plate" on its head.

Excellent (and funny) little video 🙂

Excellent. Thank you for posting. I have sent the video to my son. Hope he takes notice.

Brilliant!

It depends on the advice that comes with it. On its own, yeah, the Eatwell plate isn't necessarily helpful. When we covered it in my nutrition course with the hospital before Christmas, all this was discussed with the dietitian to explain why a low fat diet isn't always necessary, much of what the video's saying as a whole. Of course, it's very much after the horse has bolted at this point. It would be much better explained at the source.

When my daughter was born over 20 years ago my hubby was insistent that she did not have low fat milk (after I stopped BF) or yoghurt etc. He said fat was essential for brain development. As I ate very little meat her diet was mainly vegetarian so also carb heavy with pasta & rice but fat was mainly from olive oil as she disliked butter, cheese and milk. She's never had a weight problem and has been vegan for few years. He was right about fat being good for brain development as she's such a swot compared to myself and OH and has a degree in Neuroscience!!!

I adore butter and have it on anything and everything!!! What I miss most is a big chunk of fresh bread and lashings of butter!!

Full fat everything. Unless you have chronic pancreatitis. No obesity crisis years ago. Mind you I could play football in street. Can’t do that now. 5 car houses. Loads of gyms. Something is wrong!

I eat full fat everything. Including butter, especially melted on crumpets or toast. That’s what Creon is for.

When I was a kid, poor people were thin. Rich people were heavy. Now everyone’s getting fat. And it’s the sugar and corn syrup doing that.
