Started getting slight earache on Saturday but nothing major. Monday morning I missed my train by seconds then the next one was cancelled so I waited over half an hour outside and it was very cold.

By the time I got into work my ear/head hurt so much I could cry, took some paracetamol and also nipped to the local shop for ibuprofen, still I couldn’t even think straight it hurt so much, once they kicked in I was able to do some work. Obviously blood levels higher but steady at 12/13.

Once the painkillers started to wear off again I was back in agony, levels 15.7 when I tested at lunch, took corrective does with lunch.

So this cycle of pain and painkillers continued.

Just before my appointment I tested again now 19.3 took a correction. Saw the doctor at 5pm that day he said it was an ear infection and because of the impact on my levels he would put me on penicillin. He said better to try and bring them down slowly and steadily than rush into lowering them and causes hypos.
Down to 12.7 by dinner, more regular testing at this point. Was 11.7 before bed.

Woke up 13.3 yesterday, same with the pain and headache really all day, I was able to work from home but I’m not sure how productive or useful I actually was. Stayed between 11-13 all day, went to collect my child from school and then nipped to the shop, 15.7 then after that and before tea 😡 finally had enough at this point so took 4 corrective units and and extra 2 with my meal as well as my normal, as I am seeming to need more with meals with this ear issue.

5.4 before bed, 9.1 about 2am and 8.4 at 6am so hopefully we are back on track with levels.

My ear and head however are killing me. I only feel at a reasonable level of okay with painkillers but not productive at all.

Dilemma I now have is do I work from home again or take a day sick. I’m not sure how productive I can be as it hurts, and I’m tired. But then it’s only a new job and I don’t really want a sick day in the first few months, and I won’t get paid. I’m 50/50 on what to do. Husband is very much of the attitude that you only take sick if you are bad enough to be in hospital, which is none sense, I just don’t know.

Thanks all!

Very sorry to hear this @PhoebeC :( I'd probably ask to work from home again and do what you can, hopefully you will start feeling better as the day progresses {{{HUGS}}}

I’ve taken a day as sick, I was so useless yesterday that I think it’s better to not even try and just chill out. I don’t think I will regret it as my head still hurts a lot!
Glucose levels much better today so that helps x
