Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
The DAFNE User Action Group has raised a petition for central funding of a national structured education programme for diabetics. They are publicising this initiative from as many angles as possible, hence this post. If enough votes are registered then a government debate will be trigggered which it is hoped will result in some kind of programme to do what is suggested i.e a National Structured Education programmes for Diabetes.
This is for ALL Diabetics not just Type 1's.
The link to the e-peittion is: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/41345
The petition page contains a full description of what is being requested.
If you know of any other places it could be publicised then please post the link there.

having graduated dafne a year ago this has my full support

As long as nobody complains when it isn't DAFNE LOL

We would like to be able to complain, that would mean we have acheived the goal of getting a proper Structured Eductation for ALL Diabetics.
But of course it will be DAFNE for T1's and DESMOND for T2's 😉

What about T2s on insulin? They don't currently appear to be properly catered for by either of the main courses.

Just tried this and got a message saying that I could only sign it once - I assume I must have signed in the past, and am guessing it might have been through this forum as I don't really logon anywhere else.
At any rate, I have signed at some point. :D

If it is possible to actually move this forward and force a debate, then that would just be the start. As I said we would like Structured Education for ALL diabetics so that would of course T2's on insulin. In fact that would be a very important one because I keep hearing stories of T2's that have been put on insulin without any real training in how to use it and what its effects are.
