DVLA have had my group 2 application for 6 weeks. I rang them again today for an update to be told my application still hasn't been uploaded onto the system. They have a letter from my consultant saying he is happy with my management and hypo treatment. I'm just waiting on DVLA to process it. Before I was diagnosed I was lorry driving. Luckily my company have kept my job open since Feb. DVLA told me on the phone this morning that they are only up to applications recieved on the 6th of april. Considering we only went into lockdown in March I can't get my head around why they are so far behind considering they say they're only processing key worker licences. I now fear work won't be able to keep my job open much longer. Does anyone know how to get them to pull their finger out or someone to contact please? Im not getting anywhere when I ring the help line. Going at the rate DVLA are working at I will lose my job.

Write a letter to your member of parliament explain your situation and the distinct possibility of losing your job. Unfortunately these government agencies work at their own speed but a reminder from your mp could make all the difference.
Ok thank you I will try that.
I just dont find the 'due to covid-19' answer acceptable that we went into lock down on the 23rd of March and they're only up to applications recieved up to the 6th april.

Hello @Harri0723 so sorry about your job at risk. DVLA are a law unto themselves if they don`t care? they don`t care. I`m afraid lockdown is controlling all government departments at the moment, try getting a hospital appointment?
Make a nuisance of yourself they`ll make your situation worse, @Davein has said contact your MP sometimes it works but in the present climate probably not, nothing to lose trying it. Hope it all works out for you it took me 6 months to get mine back but I let them just get on with it, different for me because I am retired, take care.

As karnak says, make a nuisance of yourself. Call everyday, sometimes twice and always ask to speak to someone higher, if someone higher cant help ask to speak to someone higher than them..tell them that you will lose your job. No one likes to fib, but say your employer has given you two weeks or your jobs gone.
I even chuck in a bit of pleading and a few tears if it would get me somewhere..

If your application was in at the end of April, and they are currently processing from 6th April, perhaps it won‘t be that much longer?
Would be useful to press the, for some sort of estimate of how short-staffed they are, and how quickly they expect to get those 2 week’s worth of (keyworker only) applications processed.
Are you also explaining the situation to your emoloyer? Seems like it might be a good idea to let them know you are chasing DVLA hard, but that here is only so much pressure you can apply. Hopefully they will be understanding. It would seem unfair if you did get sacked through no fault of your own, and in the current exceptional circumstances - and I would hope that you would have some comeback if they tried that.
