Is anyone else giong to the T1 Away Day at Hotel Mercure in Glasgow on Sunday.
If so see you there.

Good luck - will you manage to come along to the DUK meet, for all diabetics and families, on the 10th.

I would be good how your day goes

There had been Living with Diabetes Days for T2 adults, Days for children with T1 and their families and days for young adults with T1 and a cut off at 30. Nothing for adults with T1 who were older!!! Having spent a couple of years asking DUK to include adults with T1 I thought I should make sure that I got to one of them.

The only date that I could do was Glasgow as I was meeting up with a friend there, flying up from the SW. So not exactly local so not around the following weekand, and unable to make the forum meets coming up as we have quite a few gigs at weekends over the summer.

SB hope it all goes ok

I shall make sure that any of the people that I meet are aware of this forum.
I will let you know how it goes.

I'm going too! Good to see that they are finally putting on events for adults with Type 1, will be interesting to see how it goes.

Great news Lorien.
I shall be wearing my scarf as in photo.
See you there

@SB2015 how did the day go on Sunday?

It was an enjoyable day. First it was good to spend a full day surrounded by others who have T1 and have a chance to share the different ways in which people manage their D. There were people there who have been diagnosed for a variety of time and at different ages.

The people who led the sessions who themselves had T1 were excellent and involved us all in a variety of ways. There was an inspirational international athlete, an excellent and very amusing session on simple realities of living with T1 and finally a DSN who involved groups of us in coming up with ideas for advice in some hypothetical case studies which he had addressed.

I felt that the dietitan, who did not have Diabetes, was not as aware of how much we as individuals have learnt just by managing day to day and gave a more generic presentation suitable for both T1 and T2.

We were encouraged to give feedback and they are developing the DUK T1 Away days using the feedback.

So I was glad that I went and enjoyed chatting to others. I also slotted it into a long weekend of visiting Glasgow and meeting a Freida for a day.

Missed you there Lorien.

A Freida? Good old predictive text!

Glad it was enjoyable and useful - they are pretty darn good at organising these things, aren't they?
