Hi all, has anyone ever had a duff batch of insulin, the reason I ask is both times my blood sugars have been high recently it seems like my rapid isn't working, i have the same breakfast every day and never differ, both times I have then used another one out of a new box they have gone back to normal, I kept them as thought it was just me but there is no way a salad for lunch was going to put me at 18 and as soon as i swapped insulin it came back to normal with my dinner in the evening, do I take it to the pharmacist and tell them or leave it as just a blip of high sugars? 🙂

hi angel,

i would defo be looking into if it is a duff batch of novorapid. may be it would be best to take it back to the chemist you got it from and see if they know of anything to do with it??

Well my oh has just pointed out when I was high i corrected with 6 units and only came down by 2 an hour later so it didn't even work then so guessing it is a dodgy batch but even so isn't this worrying that it doesn't work when it is such a life threatening condition??

i think i would be very inclined to take the whole box back to the chemist and tell them about the first one used out of the box and then ask if they would change it as you dont feel the batch is ok.

it is very worrying due to the fact we are dealing with a very very serious condition.

Hi Hun...

All I can say is that if you are at all concerned...take it back to the chemist and get a new box....Now a few months ago I got some Lantus for Nathan....a few days in strange patterns where emerging on day 6..I got a phone call from the chemist as the fridge in the store hadnt been working for a number of days..before I collected the insulin..

Thanks girls, at least I know its not just me if you've experienced it too :D

I definitely had one pen that was dodgy in a box of NovaRapid. Wierd numbers kept comming up as if I hadn't jabbed at all. It took me 5 meals to realise what was going on - I ditched it (in my sharps bin) and used a new one and all was well. I spoke to my mate pharmacist and he said he had never heard of this before.

Joe (male) 😉

Duff Novarapid

Dear Angel

I am 56, been diabetic type 1 for 28 years.
I am experiencing exactly the same problems with Novorapid.
Today I have been 25 32!, have now changed vial out of same box and am now plummeting!
This seems to be happening a little too often, about every couple of months.
But it can't be the chemist, because they would all be the same I the same box.
