Hi again can anyone give advice to help, my mouth is very dry, thirsty all the time, waking up at night having to get ice water, ice lolly

I take a glass of water to bed with me, and have a few sips when I wake up during the night. My non diabetic friend has the same problem and takes bottled water to bed with her.

If your blood glucose levels are still quite high, that will be making you thirsty. That is often the thing which send people to the doctor and they then get the diagnosis. You do not say what diabetic type you are but depending on what dietary regime you are following reducing your carb intake especially in the evening so you are not going to bed with high glucose levels.
But generally keep your hydration levels up during the rest of the day.

Thank you, I find I'm drinking 2 or 3 glasses a night.

I have just been diagnosed T2 after 2 year pre. I was taking metformin for 5 days I was so ill, diarrhoea, sick, dizzy. Dr changed it to skkarto I start today. I drink about 3 glasses of iced water during the night, I take dhidrocodine, paracetamol which cause dryness.but I would love a have a good night sleep without drinking and going to the toilet all night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

@Holly77 My advice would be to get a blood glucose meter and test your blood sugar at home, especially before bed and during the night when you wake up thirsty. That way you’ll see whether your diabetes is involved.

You could also speak to a pharmacist. Apparently there are lozenges and gels for dry mouths so it’s worth asking about them and whether they’d suit you.

I suffer from Sjögren's syndrome, one of the symptoms is a dry mouth. The dentist suggested I try

Oralieve Moisturising Mouth Spray, which I have found very good
