i applied for my license when it ran out this year got it for three yrs as i will be 70 then,(2025) do you think it will be ok to tell dvla when i next have to renew it ?You should still be OK to drive if you use insulin but you need to inform DVLA and if you have good hypo awareness and follow the rules about testing a treating hypos (and inform your insurance company although it should not affect your premium) then DVLA will issue you with a 3 year medical license which you need to reapply for.... talking of which mine is due very soon so must get on to that! Actually it is my 3 year Diaversary today. WooHoo Where has that time gone!.... but didn't start on insulin for 6 weeks so have a bit of leeway to get application underway....just need to lay hands on my license.... I know I put it in a safe place!! 🙄
Please read the bit with the exclamation mark in this link,i applied for my license when it ran out this year got it for three yrs as i will be 70 then,(2025) do you think it will be ok to tell dvla when i next have to renew it
ok thanks ,so i should have told dvla ,so guess that me in trouble. Please read the bit with the exclamation mark in this link,
You can be fined if you do not tell the DVLA about a medical condition, and prosecuted if you have an accident, if you haven’t informed them.Diabetes and driving
You may need to tell DVLA if you have diabetes, depending on the treatment you're gettingwww.gov.uk
It was irresponsible of your doctor not to have told you and you are lucky you have not had an accident in all the time you have been on insulin.ok thanks ,so i should have told dvla ,so guess that me in trouble.
Not if you chose the option to fill in DIAB1, and simply post it in.ok thanks ,so i should have told dvla ,so guess that me in trouble.
Make sure you call your insurance company too and change your policy so that they know you are on a 3 year restricted medical licenceok thanks ,so i should have told dvla ,so guess that me in trouble.
The only time there is an issue with cataracts is if you have them in both eyes and quite rightly so if your sight doesn't meet the required standard you shouldn't be driving end of story.I won't be telling them anything just get my eyes checked regularly for retinopathy. They gave me so much stress over cataract surgery 3 years ago I'll pay the £1000 fine next time gladly! I'm type 2 anyway and don't take insulin so it's not an issue right now as my Doctors are happy. Only time they'll be hearing from me is if I need to surrender my licence.
I don't need to report anything thank you. Those morons caused me so much grief I'm not going through it again. Sod 'em all. I had perfect vision and almost lost my licence due to their meddling. So they can do one.The only time there is an issue with cataracts is if you have them in both eyes and quite rightly so if your sight doesn't meet the required standard you shouldn't be driving end of story.
Such a silly sweeping statement to make as certain conditions/medications have to be reported. If you don't report as required your licence is invalid as is your insurance, so you are well and truly stuffed if you have an accident because all damages will have to come out of your own pocket.
I didn't say you needed to report anything now 🙄I don't need to report anything thank you. Those morons caused me so much grief I'm not going through it again. Sod 'em all. I had perfect vision and almost lost my licence due to their meddling. So they can do one.
They'd better get out of the bloody way then lolI didn't say you needed to report anything now 🙄
Your attitude stinks regarding the safety of other road users though.

Perfect. I also have good eyesight. DVLA almost cost me my job. It would take too long to post it all but they will only know anything if I need to surrender my licence because my medical professionals tell me to. Plus I'm a carer. You have good brakes?
lol
