Last year i went for my 3 year feild test, and DVLA revoked my licence,:( i knew there were no changes and my eye consultant could not find any difference, so i had 2 feild test done and got as much info as i could get. i wear glasses for distance, and what had happened was , i had my feild test with them on....that is a no no, so i wrote back to DVLA with all my evidence, and was re instated as a driver, so not all opticians no what they are doing, it was devastating 😱, to think after 33 yrs of driving, i knew i was ok 😛, but there are drivers out there with no diabetes, and DRIVING :, dont give up, im glad all is well now, until the next time
:D

I get cross with the field test, they do it straight after the eye test and shining light in the eyes in a darkened room; fair enough I like that they do it, but I'm already seeing spots when I have to do the tedious field test!

It always seems to take forever ......

I have no real knowledge of this but would like to comment anyway. Many people these days seem to wear glasses with very thick sides pieces (not sure what the bit between frame and ears is called) and with thick'ish letter box frames. I am sure this cannot help in a fields test or when actually driving. Obviously may not apply to the previous posters, just a Stephen observation!

A good storey and pleased you got licence renewed (bit streesful ?) well done

Worst part of renewing a licence is the field vision test, I find am slow to start and takes me 30 seconds to adjust to screen but is worth it when your licence arrives.

What is this field vision test ?

I've never had to do any tests to renew my licence.

A field vision test is to check for blind spots in your peripheral vision, I have to take a test each time I renew my licence due to having had laser treatment which can reduce sideways vision.

Ah, ok. Thanks.

I may need to have this next time, due to lasering last year. I'll take advice on whether it was notifiable or not. I've got a feeling it wasn't.

I have to have it done as my late mum had glaucoma. It's a detestable test! I always manage to lose concentration.🙄

Well done. Can I ask how much they probed/enquired about your testing habits.

My opticians (was D&A which is now Boots) just does it automatically for everyone when anyone goes to have their eyes tested, so i have only had it done the last 3 years. Nothing to do with your driving licence though I suppose if you failed they would have to tell the DVLA ?

Haven't had the glaucoma 'air in the eye' test since I started going to this opticians though and always had that for years and years before ..... are you still sposed to have that done?
