I am type 2. I take 2 metformin morning and evening and Insulin once a day in the morning. I do regular finger prick tests throughout the day. I also have prescription glasses for driving. However, the DVLA have informed me I don't meet the required medical standards to renew my licence but will not tell me why and need to speak with my Dr . I asked my Dr and have been told to get back to the DVLA. Any advise please as I'm going round in circles and need to drive for my business. Thank you

Did you mention any issues on the form eg saying you’ve had help with hypos or that you don’t have hypo awareness?

Hi, If my bloods drop, it's usually overnight or first thing in the morning. I have a glass of orange juice and then bloods are normal again after around half an hour. I never have any issues during the day.

I think the point @Lucyr is making, is that it’s very easy to fill in the questions about hypos on the form incorrectly, and you wouldn’t be the first to come a cropper on them, they’re not the easiest to navigate.
Basically, you need to have said that you haven’t needed assistance when you’ve been hypo (and this doesn’t include someone helping by passing you your orange juice, you needed to have been incapable of getting it yourself): also that you know what the symptoms of a hypo are.
If you answered all questions correctly, then you need to ask your GP if they were contacted by the DVLA, whether they were asked to supply information about you, and if so, what they put! If they weren’t contacted, it must be something you put on the form that fell foul of the tick boxes.

Sorry that isn’t what I asked. I asked how you answered the questions on the renewal form.

Thank you so much Robin !!!

I sympathise with you having to deal with the DVLA. Our youngest has a 5-year medical licence as he has a genetic condition, though it's not on their list. He passed his test first time, still has a clean licence and has built up 2 years' NCD on his car insurance, yet now his licence is up for renewal the DVLA insist on going through all the checks they insisted on when he applied for his provisional licence even though the things they're checking on are rare complications that usually appear in childhood and adolescence. He's 23 now and has none of them and we provided copies of consultants' letters confirming this, to no avail. They've written to his consultant and also told him to book an appointment with Specsavers, just as they did 5 years ago.

Both of you - just hoops the DVLA require us to jump through. I recall my GP telling me 20 odd years ago he'd completed a form for a lorry driver patient who was fit as a fiddle and had excellently normal blood pressure for a bloke of his age. The form question was 'Is the blood pressure below X over Y?' so he answered with the actual reading, being as the X number was below X and the Y one under Y.

Rejected. Only allowed to answer either Yes or No. No other reply allowed.

Hope you are able to get your license reinstated @saralouise

Let us know how you are getting on.
