Hi,
Please can anyone help me?! I have received a letter from DVLA saying my application to renew my driving licence has been refused. This is simply because I completed the form wrong. When asked about needing help from someone else to resolve a hypo I ticked no, because I’ve never needed help with a hypo. However I was supposed to skip the next question which I didn’t and when asked if this was within the last 3 month I ticked yes, thinking it meant did I have a hypo within the last 3 months but it meant was the help from another person within the last 3 months. I only received the letter this evening and I haven’t been able to contact the DVLA , I will contact them as soon as they are open in the morning. But in the mean time I am desperate to know if the DVLA will simply understand my stupidity or if I will need to appeal their decision and if so how long will this take? Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I can’t help. Just wanted to give your post a bump up to the top

Hi Siobhan, welcome to the forum. It may be worth contacting the Diabetes UK advocacy service as we can advise you on the next steps and options you have. You can reach us on 0345 123 2399 Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm or at helpline@diabetes.org.uk

Sorry to hear about your license refusal @Siobhan1607 :(

I agree that contacting the helpline would be a good way of getting extra support and advice.

Hopefully you will be able to contact the DVLA today, and you will get a prompt resolution. How long does your current license have left on it? It would be worth asking what happens if it takes a while to review your new form and get this sorted and there’s any kind of gap - ie would you still be OK to drive while your case was being reviewed for a simple form-filling error?

Thanks. Phoned the DVLA and got it all sorted. Next time il need to make sure I read the questions properly.
Pleased to hear it’s been dsorted out.

Glad you got it sorted. With both car tax and driving licence queries I have found who answers the phone makes a terrific difference!
