I have been diabetic for 10 years but I had to start-on Insulin in August 2019, I notified DVLA immediately and stopped driving lgvs which I drive for a living, so now no income.

I was due a medical review, due to having a 3 year licence, on 31 August. DVLA have now revoked my Group 2 due to medical reasons ie I don’t have 3 months of blood glucose readings on insulin with only starting it in August.

If my blood glucose readings are ok for the 3 months how quickly will my licence application be processed and will there be any other issues I should consider.

I am still in shock and want to understand what is in store for me, medically and financially.

Thanks for any help

Only the DVLA Medical group can answer how long they take to restore licences when/if you manage to come off insulin - not a random selection of other diabetics. It's like other licence changes - once they have the right info on the right forms sometimes they take days and sometimes months depending on shedloads of issues whether it be staff shortages or anything else.

Just wanted to offer sympathy to you both. Must be very frustrating to need 3 months of information that you weren’t instructed to collect beforehand.

And presumably you are going onto insulin because of elevated BG, while DVLA are only concerned about hypoglycaemia.

Seems like this part of the system needs redesigning :(
