Drive through flu jab clinic.

I had to go to the local racecourse for my 'flu jab. It was drive through and very efficient. I was asked to wait for five minutes in case I had a reaction and there was an area where you could pull over and wait. I have avoided the 'flu jab for a number of years because I was rather ill after the last one. Therefore I went with trepidation but thought that it might be good this year as there is no one to look after me now. I have not had any reaction at all, not even the anticipated sore arm. My children are very pleased that I have done this and so am I 🙂. I feel very fortunate.
 
Just an update.

As we can’t attend the “ drive through” I called our surgery and asked them if they could make us an appointment to come down for our jabs. No was the answer and was advised to go to a pharmacy! But Boots have stopped their flu jabs as they’ve ran out and I told her this, I then pulled the “ no spleen” card. Didn’t work. I called my local pharmacy, who deal with our meds, they’ve put us on a waiting list as they have ran out too! What really bugged me was the fact she said she didn’t need to note that we weren’t coming to the flu jabathon. How much will they waste? That’s assuming it’s a live vaccine and has a use by date. Can someone enlighten me about that. Bit cross! 😡
 
i don't have a car any more so can't do the drive through so our practice was only doing a walk in clinic not at the surgery but at a NHS centre only problem which is why i have not gone ahead is that someone attended the walk in only to find that they were holding it in a car park! and when she went there were at least 60 people waiting.

now we are told not to crowd gather and having 60 people around in my eyes is asking for troubles nothing beyond crazy.

as i had a late flu jab last time around i have up to xmas to try and sort something out only thing i am pretty sure it made me ill and that is putting me off.
 
Our surgery had a very successful (so I hear) walk in session for the over 65s, spread over 2 days, at the brand new sports and social club which has a door each end and lends itself to a one way system. They were also lucky with the weather on those days. We were away, so missed it. The village website urges people to go to one of the catch up sessions, but they haven’t said when or where they are yet! (It'll probably be when we’re away again). They also haven’t started on the under 65s yet.
@eggyg , what happens to non-drivers at your drive through at the airport? There must be a lot of elderly and vulnerable who don't drive.
 
Mine was in a preloaded syringe. Mine was not a live vaccine. I doubt the expire date would be very short as one year I got a reminder letter at the begining of December, as I had not had.

If that’s the case can they not put ours “ to one side” and we could pop down and a nurse could do us both in seconds! Frustrating!

Mother in law should be going this Saturday, she doesn’t drive, as she has three sons in the vicinity that’s usually not a problem but we’re away and youngest son is too. Touch wood other son can do it. It’s not on a bus route either, it’s in the middle of the country side about 10 miles out of town.

I don’t think your allocated an individual vaccine, so it wouldn’t work like that.

Although it sounds like a good idea having a drive in but in reality if it is out of the way it is a nightmare.
I know if my husband take time off to take me for retinal screening, that would be a nightmare for me , it is in a nearby town but at surgery on one of the estates out of the centre of town.
 
Had a call from pharmacy we’re in tomorrow for our jabs. Result.
