Hi (me again)

Keeping hydrated I presume is the reason for being told to drink water or have tea, but I don't understand why. Is it something to do with flushing the kidneys, surely it is something that everyone (diabetic or not) should be doing? I only self-test when I want to know what is going on and it has always been in the low - mid 5s. Today I was trying to remember what I would have eaten pre diagnosis and all I can recall is a tuna mayo sandwich - which I may try again (shop bought, v. high carbs), a couple of small bananas and a packet of Cheesy Wotsits (could give them another go to see what happens!). Apart from that I simply cannot recall other foods. It is so odd, how all this is now the new normal. Even during the day when I am peckish I nibble at a green salad, tiny bit of low fat cheese and an oat meal cracker - and that is that. Does anyone recall their pre-diagnosis food?

I do remember what I used to eat (I’m six months in) but I would never go back to it even if by some miracle I woke up non diabetic, the added benefits are just too good, no bloating, sleeping better, feel I have more energy and have lost over 3 stone so far 😉

Hi,

Like yourself I don't think I would ever return to the 'old' days if only because I have worked so hard to get to this stage and to start all over again simply for the sake of regular sandwiches and crisps - no not very bright!
