Dan Poulter, the health minister, argues that the revolution in personalised healthcare will transform the NHS.

We are on the brink of a personalised healthcare revolution as modern technology drives improvements in healthcare that could scarcely have been predicted a few years ago.

As a doctor, I have first-hand experience of this game-changing development, as new mothers Facebook photographs of their new baby just seconds after I’ve helped bring them into the world.

Technology helps people of all ages and backgrounds to take control of their own healthcare and on their own terms. Sharing a photo of your baby with hundreds of people within moments of its first breath is simply one of the more fun ways of doing so.

People are taking greater control of their own health as they monitor and better self-manage conditions like diabetes with the help of blood pressure cuffs, pulse monitors and glucose monitors.

Yeah, right - if they are amongst the lucky ones! 🙄
