Don't want to be indelicate, but does anyone know what caused this?

I've been holding off asking because I don't want to gross anyone out, so be warned, there are some less than wholesome images coming!

So, to get on with the question....

On Sunday I felt alright for most of the day, around midday I went to use the bathroom and my god I almost fainted. I must have been in there for like half an hour trying to evacuate if you get my meaning.

In the end, it felt like I was going to break apart it was so painful. Given that most of my medication has tended to make me a little... lets say "more relaxed" in that area I was quite surprised that this ended up being like I was going ten rounds with a sumo wrestler.

Lets just say that the aftermath took a good ten minutes where it was looking like I was going to have to call out a drain surgeon.

Hopefully that hasn't sent you running as there is a serious question here... which is:

What of the following medications would cause severe constipation?

Metformin, Semaglutemide and Abasaglar?

I assume its one of these and not a reaction with another medication. Or is that a common thing too?

Again, apologies for the vivid imagery, I'd not ask, but I'm kind of fearful of a repeat performance.

nobody can answer that I'm afraid, constipation can happen for many reasons, not enough fibre, not drinking enough water, too much cheese etc so I'm not quite sure why your assuming its one of your medications?

People get constipated but we don't look for a reason, its a normal part of life as far as I'm concerned, so sorry but its true, if you've made it all these years without ever being constipated before then I really will be amazed
xx

I struggled with the sort of constipation you describe for several weeks when I first started eating low carb. I am guessing that my body was struggling to cope with the loss of all that fibre from the large quantities of wholemeal bread and pasta and dried fruit etc I had been eating prior to diagnosis. I tried various combinations of psyllium husk and chia seeds and lots of fluids but it persisted for a while and then settled down and whilst bowel movements are not as good as they used to be, I don't feel like I am "giving birth" anymore and I no longer use those fibre supplements now. @belugalad had a thread entitled "Constipation" where we discussed it, which should come up if you use the search facility.

Good for you Barbara,I'm still using psyllium husk,at the moment I'm not thinking about drinking enough liquids and can get to dinner time not having had a drink all day,I'm probably only having a pint of water a day,my heads so busy at the moment,I need to address that,it will help me think more clearly too I suppose being well hydrated

I take a spoonful of Normacol daily with four pints of water but it still happens to me every so often. Just one of those things I'm thinking. I have to be careful because of Diverticulitis. For some reason a cup of coffee often helps and when I used to smoke a fag would get things moving. 🙄
