ALL eyes may today be fixed on Stafford Hospital as it goes through the death throes as an independent part of the NHS.
With just three weeks until its takeover by the University of North Staffordshire, we are at the tail end of an era in the country's healthcare.
But rather more quietly, the future of another hospital has been thrown into doubt.
Sadly there has been no similar fanfare to greet the closure of Longton Cottage, below, last week.
Compared to the huge campaign to save Stafford Hospital – culminating in protesters occupying UHNS – Longton Hospital seemed almost friendless as it hurriedly moved out patients and slammed its doors.
