Doncaster Rovers FC is supporting the NHS Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme ? being managed across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw by Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals - by holding an awareness event at the Keepmoat stadium today (Saturday October 5).

Before the match against Leicester, members of the AAA team will be at an AAA stall in the West Stand, where they will be talking to people about AAAs as well as handing out information packs to older people who may wish to consider the offer of screening.

AAAs kill around 6,000 people a year ? mainly older men aged 65 and above. They occur when the main blood vessel in the body, the aorta, weakens and expands. If left untreated, the swelling can lead to a rupture and a serious risk of death from internal bleeding.
