Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi there, I’m new to this board but not new to Diabetes type 2. I am overweight and just do not understand what foods I can eat
That will not push my sugar levels up. I don’t have a clue. Please help!

The best place to start is what you ate pre-diagnosis @SandraC Write down an average day’s food for you, then look to see where you can reduce carbs and add green veg and salad, as well as cutting out obvious things like sugary foods.

Are you on any medication for the diabetes?

There are some meal plans here:

And recipes here:

@SandraC It is the carbohydrates, the starches and sugars we eat which increase blood glucose after meals and put a strain on the metabolism 24/7, so just reducing or removing carbohydrate is the first option.
Reducing the carbs can also lead to fairly effortless weightloss, which can seem very unlikely when the usual advice is so definite, and so difficult to follow, but it is what I found.

@SandraC Hi, welcome to the forum
It would be useful to let folks know what diabetes meds you are on so that they can give the best advice.
