can anyone help on this please?

my doctor has been trying to get my blood sugars, blood pressure, blood results, etc under control.last week he got my last blood test results back and started me on new tablets, etc.he said that given my blood test figures he was surprised that i was still alive.i received a letter yesterday that has raised my worry and stress levels and lo and behold all my doctors good work has been undone.my blood sugars and blood pressure numbers are back through the roof.

if you haven't guessed yet the letter was from the Incapacity Benefits team threatening to knock me off the list as fit for work.last week i read that over 1500 people had died or committed suicide because of this.i feel i will soon be another statistic.

Hi Bilko, sorry to hear about your troubles. Yes, stress can affect both BP and sugar levels. Something that might help is support in addressing the cause of the stress, so maybe you could go to the Citizens' Advice Bureau for advice about your benefit letter. There are others in your situation on this forum, so I'm sure you will get other replies with more suggestions. I wish you luck.

Worry and stress can knock your bs out by miles in either direction and from my opinion it always seems to be the way you least want them to Go.

However, can I rephrase your plight slightly?

You did really well pulling things together and getting back on track. That's brilliant.

Then you got some extremely worrying news that has knocked it all out of kilter.

Now you have to choices: to accept the 'out of kilterness' and carry on as you were before, bearing in mind your doctor said it might even kill you

OR

You can say ' No, 'I'm gonna do this' and go right back to what you did before to pick your levels up. You know it's possible now.

Meanwhile, you obviously need your support back so fight hard for it: with your situation as bad as it ms been, surely no doctor is going to sign you 'fit' right now, even if you are working really really hard on controlling your levels? - and Good Luck with that.

billko, Sympathies firstly.

There is a process if ATOS deny you. You register an appeal immediately and that is really really important.

You didn't have to give many details, just a basic statement you didn't agree and would appeal.

So get to the CAB asap. The rules may well have changed, they are changing everything. And you need to know what the rules ARE in your partic case.

Good luck.

many thanks for your replies

many thanks for your replies and advice.i would like to tell you more about my condition and what i believe caused the onset of it.in the 1990's i had 2 nervous breakdowns due to unfair pressure at work whilst going through close family illness and bereavements.my G.P. signed me off work and sought me specialist advice.I saw 3 psychiatrists who diagnosed me and recommended "Retirement from Work on Medical Grounds".I had to accept my career was over when they told me that because of the nature of my illness i would never be able to work again.I have submitted 2 medical reports in the last year for the Incapacity Benefits Team, one signed by my doctor and one by an independent doctor.I believe that this constant harassment over the last 13 years or so has contributed to the onset of diabetes as well as an attack of shingles and a viral attack on my nervous system that left me in hospital for a week without visual focus or balance.very scary.2 days ago, i received another form to be filled in by another independent doctor "of my choice" and returned by the end of the month. My blood pressure and sugar readings went through the roof after reading this. Why should i or any other person be subjected to this sort of harassment? It only makes the situation worse. This appears to me to be their aim. They want to kill off the sick and disabled. It reminds me of my history lessons at school about Nazi Germany.Does anyone else feel like this or suffered similar harassment?
