Does Ivermectin Work for Covid-19?

Another nice piece from Gideon, but FWIW I think he might have stressed a bit more that there's no real reason to think that it would work - so effort spent on it might be effort not spent on something more promising.

Oh my God, can we stop having an Ivermectin discussion, and if you do mention a source, a health blogger is hardly an authority. Better authorities than he have rubbished the Ivermectin claim, including the FDA.

I don't need to repeat my comments about that report you posted in another thread @pm133.

He concentrates on the same meta analysis that Gideon looks at. Gideon noted a couple of trials which (to him) looked like they had much worse methodology than the meta analysis gave them (there were real questions about the randomisation, I think). And if you regrade those, he says the overall positive results disappear.

Indeed, a meta analysis is only as good as the reports on which it is based. And selecting the shakiest reports to make your point is the tactic that the tobacco companies used to show that smoking didn’t cause lung cancer.
