Does anyone wear a freestyle libre and a dexcom g6 c.g.m at the same time?

Hi Everyone,

I was just reading this thread that Northerner posted. I couldn't help but notice a couple of things about the story.

Both of the ladies in the story also wear a dexcom g6 at the same time as the freestyle libre.

Is this usual? Would this be expensive? What are the benefits of this?

Complete overkill! We have just switched from Libre to Dexcom G6, and had both on for a week just because when we went to see the nurse to learn how to put the Dexcom on, we still had a Libre in use which had only been there a few days. So we decided we might as well leave it there until it died, and do some comparisons. But to be honest if you’ve got two sensors you just get confused, because they never read the same so you don’t know which to believe. Or if you decide that you trust one more than the other, then you don’t need the other one!

I had a similar overlap when my pump training needed an active G6 session @Sally71

Not really a fair comparison as the Libre was one of those ‘reading a bit low‘ ones.

Still I guess it would cover the 2hr G6 startup ‘gap’

Hi Mike,
Do you know if many wear both these devices at the same time? Both these ladies wear both devices.
Also should the sensor be worn behind a belt on your waste like in the picture?
I don’t think they are wearing them at the same time. If you look at their Instagram account, round about May, they post that having used a Libre for around 4 years, (or since diagnosis for the most recently diagnosed of the duo), they’ve now been gifted a Dexcom to trial. So presumably Dexcom have cashed in on the publicity. (this happens all the time, my daughter runs a small equine themed Instagram account, and she is offered free stuff to promote from time to time)

Thanks Robin, that makes more sense than the story in the typeone article, which was showing them wearing both types of sensors within the same page of the article. It doesn't look like a good place to wear a sensor behind the belt though...
