Does anyone else have difficulty holding things, often leading to you dropping what's in your hand?

Hi I'm Amy, new here :D

I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue. I've had this problem ever since I was diagnosed. I know why it happens but I just wanted to see how many others suffer with it. What sort of things do you drop? Mines usually anything heavy like a glass of water for example. Also any tips that you guys could give me on helping improve my grip would also be appreciated 🙂

Hi Amy and welcome to the forum. Do you have pins and needles in your hand, possibly a tremor or numbness or do you simply drop things for no apparent reason?

It's more of a numbness, like you know when you get a dead leg. It's heaviest at my fingers but can be my whole hand.

Not sure what that is then, definitely worth running it by your GP. Let us know how you get on x

Do you have carpal tunnel by any chance? f so a wrist splint will help no end.
If you are prone to dropping things only half fill the glass or have a glass with a handle .

I have had regular trigger finger on both hands since diagnosis with T1, which is apparently very common. It does not sound quite the same as what you are experiencing. However I do get the numbness in one foot, due to a spinal stenosis. Well worth passing it by your GP to get things checked out.

The triggers can be very frustrating but I have learnt to adapt how I lift things otherwise there are breakages. I use two hands for a cup and limit the time that I spend doing anything that requires fingers to bend. Very frustrating at present as I am a weaver, and it is definitely limiting what I can do.

I had something a few weeks back where i would lose tension in my wrist with a sharp twinge and then almost immediately regain it.

Happened twice in quick succession over a few days and I spilt half a glass of water and the end of a cup of tea.

It felt like a slightly trapped nerve or something?

Hasn‘t happened since, so I haven‘t worried about it!
