I do very occasionally succumb to such naughtiness and am so sorry afterwards. Now I tend to indulge myself in our lovely cafe instead

Thank you - now I'm wondering why my book of diabetes has high carb recipes - crazy!!!
Where did you get the book from and what's it called

Just at the weekend there yes....I am regretting it today.....😳

@Ljc. It was given to me at the 6wk course i enrolled on. Looking at the recipes again - they are flapjack & loaves that each serve between 10 - 16 portions - so are family size. I'll post them in thread recipes - see what you think 🙄

Ah no wonder, I reckon it's that darned *eat well plate * or whatever they call in nowadays, that they keep pushing at us.

What do you call high carbs?
Pasta - white bread - potatoes - white rice - chocolate digestive biscuits - mars bars - pastries - cake - etc Someone else will no doubt pass by and add to that short list.

I do eat a few new potatoes , and a couple of slices of wholemeal bread 6 chips

A lot of diabetic cookbooks are based on the Eat Well Plate, which is outdated nonsense. I have a book myself & all the recipes are the same as any non diabetic cookbook.

I do sometimes, I had a Chinese takeaway last night and had a few king prawn balls, a few prawn crackers and rice, it was delicious! However being type 1 I can match (as best I can!) Insulin to carbs.

Sorry I thought you meant the amount of carbs per meal.
There's nothing wrong with your list if A you like the muck and B if you don't eat the lot in one go. Portion control is the best form of management.

I eat 2 slices of 50/50 bread most days, I have a digestive biscuit most days, I do eat cakes on occasion - salted caramel gateau on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, black forest gateau for New Years day and the 2nd, an occasional chocolate éclair a kit kat chunky etc but it's not all the time, I average just under 100g carbs a day but if I was doing more I would need more than this to function x

I probably eat most of those things on occasion, but then I'd don't avoid any food I just base my intake on 80% unprocessed food and work from there. White bread has no more or less impact on me than wholegrain bread if I'm honest, I can manage a slice of either with insulin, two slices not so much. That said the white bread I eat is mixed white flour and oats so not the traditional stuff. I wouldn't base my diet around them but don't mind the occasional dabble 🙂

Snap, I think I average about 100g a day. I'm quite active and I function ok, why do you feel you wouldn't be able to? Just out of interest.
