Doctors in Germany say they have successfully removed a 28 kilogram tumour big enough to fill a wheelbarrow from a 60-year-old woman.
The woman, named as Irmtraud Eichler, had previously been diagnosed as obese after piling on weight as the tumour attached to her ovary rapidly grew.
Doctors prescribed a course of anti-obesity medicine to combat Ms Eichler's alarming weight gain, but when the swelling left her barely able to stand, her daughter insisted on a second opinion and an ultrasound scan revealed the growing tumour.
