Do you think this needs checking? (Wound)

Hi All,

Not asking for medical advice, merely asking if you would get it checked or not.

Unfortunately I fell victim to a broken laundry basket on Monday as I walked past it.

It didn't bleed at all and have been using Savlon on it day and night until yesterday.

Attached is a timeline of sorts of the stages of it. The redness is what I am concerned about personally, it is a little warm to touch but is not causing any pain.

For reference it is on my lower leg about an inch above where socks sit.

If I were you I would get it checked. I got a cut on the side of my foot. I cleaned it and dressed it but after 24 hours I got it checked by the nurse. Mine was a cut and partly on the sole of my foot. I have never asked for one to be checked before. It looked as though it was getting better. I also went back 5 days later to have confirmation I could go back to an aquafit class. I was diagnosed type 2 a year ago. My reading in December was 44 but I am on medication.
Yours isn't as deep as mine and isn't on your foot so not as potentially serious.
Another alternative particularly if you are working is to email the photos to the surgery to confirm if need to be seen.

I’d just leave it, it’s normal to have warmth and mild redness around a wound as part of the healing process. If you google normal wound healing you should find some descriptions.

If it doesn't look any better on Monday you could get the pharmacist to check, though it sounds as if you are doing the right thing, Germolene is another antiseptic to try if you have any of that.

Thank you guys. I'll leave it until Monday, see what it looks like in the morning and either submit a picture to my Drs surgery or visit the pharmacy near where I work.

This is the first wound I've had since diagnosis and it panicked me, glad to have this forum
