Hi Slim, welcome to the forum🙂 Whereabouts in the country are you? You have the right to be referred to a specialist, so insist on this or change GP - it is YOUR health at stake, not your doctor's.

I hope you get things sorted out. Is there another more sympathetic docotor at the surgery? Sometimes the nurse can be quite helpful.

My doctor wasn't helpful or giving me the care I deserve so I have an appointment on Tuesday to DEMAND the care I deserve and am going to kick up a HUGE stink if he tries to fob me off. Why don't you do the same??

Good luck and hope you get what you want and deserve!!

I hope you get everything you want. We shouldn't have to fight for what is rightfully ours, but if I made this much fuss with my doctor who is a stropy twit a the best of times, I'd end up not having a doctor at all...

'll never forget what the Diabetic nurse told me first time I met her......... if you are not sure .. ask, its your body and you are entitled too

If you are a diagnosed Diabetic you can asked to be referred to the Diabetic Unit. Hopefully you are somewhere that has a unit or clinic

Please if you have complications don't wait too long , I have them too , so I know what it can be like 😉 🙂)In fact just back from an Iron Infusion .. Kidney Diesase stage 4 )

Hugs Mo x

Does your surgery have a specialist diabetes clinic? Or is there a community one that you could attend? Ask your Dr or nurse what is avaliable in your area.

Good luck and hope you get what you want.
It is your body and its you that has to cope with the complications when and if they arise x

Sorry to hear about your complications Mo.. Re the diabetic unit/clinic, I was advised by my doctor and nurse that the clinic is only for T1's, and for those T2's with complications.. so not able to get referred routinely..

Hi Karina

At the time I was Diet only, but have now gone thru the range and now on purely Insulin.
I was told if I wanted to be referred from the GP's . To ring the Diabetes Unit and make an appt, and I am so happy I did it! We have Diabetes Unit attached to the Main Hospital, so am lucky.
Also there is a Diabetes specialist nurse you can phone for advice

Hugs Mo xx 🙂

It's good that you have that resource for support, I have to 'make do' with the GP and Practice Nurse! 🙄

he says ,that he is the diabetic doctor of the clinic,so i have to choose, either i go to him,or i go to the consultant.than i cant come back to him.
so i am upset because ,every little details i have to push,i basically have to inform myself about the entire illness and mention to him that this and that has to be taken care of,otherwise he doesnt bother.like he told me you have to have have rimopril,to protect your kidneys.i took and i bloated.
so i stopped taking it.
but the next time i saw him he didnt ask me if the tablet is working or if i am happy with it.by the time i got home i realised he should have asked me ,because now i have nothing to protect my kidneys, since i think i have an allergie to that tablet.
i feel i need someone to make sure that all details are discussed and nothing is left to hazard.but its not done.
now if i go to a consultant and he is not so good,i would have lost him.
so how do you choose?

Did you tell him you weren't taking the ramipril?

You could go to the consultant and if you don't prefer them you could go back to your GP.
