Afternoon all
On Monday I had my 6 month review with the nurse at my GP clinic.
Very pleased with my HBA!c of 6%. Left metformin the same as I'm probably at the right level for good control with diet & exercise.
Other results good total cholesterol 3.4 so slightly lower and staying on 10mg of simvastatin.
BP was 120/60so good news all round.
Explained re my concerns over high morning levels; normally in the 7's or 8's. She agreed for me to try taking both my metformin at night to see if they reduce as it is well in my system & I can experiment a little to see when is the best time of day for me. So I started last night will leave it for a couple of weeks & do some spot testing to see if any improvement.
My big fear as I have "mirrored" my dad in developing type 2 & 15 years down the line he is on dialysis 3 days a week. He also had good average levels but was high in the morning. Time will tell.
Good news my little sister has been tested & she is all Ok at present. No type 2; unlike my big brother who was diagnosed a couple of months ago. So 2 out of the 4 of us have developed it; hope that is how it stays & little sis & brother stay type 2 free.
On another point I posted a while back about the lack of any education apart from a 4 hr overview which was fine as far as it went. I will shortly start the on-line version of the X-pert course & I discussed this with the nurse. I was a little wary about paying as without the classroom interaction not sure you would get full benefit. Anyway she encouraged me to do it & to e-mail her any concerns or questions & she would answer & provide any support I needed. Pretty pleased with that.
Well that's all folks;
take care
Lynne
