Yep, it's good. I don't know what it means if you have them though. I've never had them even when I've been up in the 20s.

Hi Mathew,

Have you contacted your team as yet for an appointment?

Hope your levels sort out soon, but you definately sound like you will benefit from a good session with a DSN, it certainly helped me to sit down with my DSN when my levels were constantly high.

Its good news you dont have keytones, now you need to sort out your reguime and find what works for you but I would suggest this is something that is best worked out between you and your team.

Have you done DAFNE? Or do you use carb counting? That is another thing to ask for. Or if you have done it then a refresher might be possible.

when did you last take any insulin? if it has been several hours you could think about taking a correction dose.

could you ring your team and ask to see a diabetes specialist nurse before friday? they may be able to squeeze you in and help you work out why you are high and exactly what to do when you are.

Good idea Shiv. Mathew I think if you give them a call and explain you are desperate for some support from your DSN I can think they wouldnt squeeze you in if at all possible.

Do you keep a BM diary? It may be good if you dont to start one now for your pending appointment. It is really helpful for them to get an idea of you numbers, times and how you are dosing each meal. Also to to keep a record of your correctional doses and what effect you get from them. You may need to make some adjustments to your reguime and your correctional doses, but a record of your BMs will be good for you to review and when you go to your appointment.

I think it's an idea to ring today, they might be able to give you some advice over the phone to get you through until you see the doctor on friday, thats if they can't manage to see you in person. If your levels are constantly high then you are likely to need an increase in your insulin doses, but you team can tell you how much you need to increase by. Hope that things settle down soon for you.

It is good not to have ketones. My understanding is you will only get them if you have been high for a while and have done nothing to bring the high down, but always get advice.
