Just a quick one
I was discharged from hospital on Monday after 4 days. I went in with dka and was slipping in and out of consciousness, not moving, not talking, vomiting, dehydrated. The next day, when I had almost fully recovered a mistake was made and I ended up in a worse state than when I arrived. I then spent two days on a potassium drip.

Since all this I still feel ill. My sugars are good but I don't feel right
I'm having a hard time remembering anything since a day before I was admitted, I don't even know what I've done today properly. I feel exhausted despite sleeping properly. I've no strength to do anything. And I'm just generally confused all the time.

Are these signs I'm still recovering from what happened or do I need to get it looked at? X

Hi BecciMarie, very sorry to hear about your awful experience :( I've only had DKA once, when I was diagnosed, but I was in hospital for 8 days. I remember feeling much better by the second day, but it was really just a contrast from feeling so awful before. It sounds like you have had a particularly bad time, recovering and then getting ill again, so this will have taken a lot out of you. Were you given any medication on leaving? I remember I was given all sorts of things to deal with the vitamin and mineral imbalances caused by the DKA, so it's possible you may be lacking in something. I would get an appointment with your GP to get checked out, in order to put your mind at ease.

Hope you are fully recovered very soon! 🙂

Sounds like you have had a hard time. Being dehydrated isnt good for you. Hope you feel better soon. Did you get any blood test in hosp ? You might be lacking in something 🙂
