So my husband is type 2 for around 13 years he’s been on insulin for over 2 years his hbac1 has always been over 80! But beginning of this year it’s down to 75 he was also told last year his BP was high so the GP upped his statin from 20mg to 40mg but today he fell over after getting up to answer the door he said he went dizzy! He then told me this has been going on for about a month never fallen before he’s agreed to see his GP Tuesday but anyone have any ideas why (he’s no pains anywhere)

Could be anything so only your GP could help with this.

Agree with Maca

If you have a home blood pressure monitor, take 2 measurements am and another two pm after resting for about 5-10 mins. Do this until you are able to chat with you doctor as it will help the doctor to see if the BP medications needs adjusting again or if not further investigations.

Over the easter weekend would be good to keep records. For BP and BG

It could be many things , so Gp would be best.

I am no medic ok, I have high bp , on meds for it just for fun I also have postural hypotension, which means my bp can suddenly drop when I stand up, when this happens I can get very dizzy.
Doc or nurse needs to do a sitting then standing bp test to see if it is this.

It’s almost certainly postural hypotension. I assume he’s on anti hypertension medication. The story you tell is diagnostic. I agree with Lin, it’s confirmed with a sitting and standing BP measurement, best done by the GP where there’s a soft landing, then a review of medication.

It can happen in older people on no medication, if their arteries are a bit stiffened with age.

Insulin and metformin are for his diabetes and the statin is to try and reduce his cholesterol - so he isn't on anything to treat high blood pressure so sounds like he hasn't had either too high or too low blood pressure when his GP or nurse, has taken his BP, otherwise he'd have received advice already on what to do about it..

So he needs to see his GP next week and tell him about the dizzy spells - which are often caused by something being wrong with with his blood pressure - and usually sorted out rather easily when they are.

No point whatever in speculating whether it could be caused by anything else right now. Whatever it is - a doctor needs to see him.

I’m guessing it was your husbands cholesterol level that was high , hence the dose increase of the statin.
None of the medications you mentioned are for high blood pressure .
