Welcome to the forum Dizee. Gliclazide for me is not a nice med to be on, I have been on it for over 18 months, I was in hypo city when I first started. As already mentioned take the meter with you on your next appointment.
What may help is if you can see a pattern of when your hypo's are happening. Over the past 18 months my dosage has been upped then lowered and up again. For me if I took gliclazide morning and night I was hpyoing all over the place. I now take it 3 times a day, which for me sort of levels the rough ride out a bit. Though can have days when I can struggle to stay above the hypo level, and others when I can't get levels down.
Try and find out how foods affect you, a food diary is good for this, seeing what your levels are before your meal and 2 hours after. A strange one for me if I have bacon on wholemeal bread, I can guarantee that I will be hypo within 2 to 3 hours, no matter what the pre meal reading is.
As Alison says always carry some sweats with you, jelly babies are meant to be the best, my choice is fruit pastels. If you do drive make sure you test before driving and your levels are high enough, they say you should be above 5.0 and allow for your journey time so you don't go low during driving. If you feel funny stop and retest, DVLA say test every 2 hours while driving, this may be too long a time span and you might need to test sooner than the 2 hours.
