ohhh - what a leap.
Before dinner reading at 5.00 pm was: 9.5 mmol/l
After dinner reading at 7.35 pm was:14.6 mmol/l

This was the result of a 70 gramme (pre-cooked weight) of Penne pasta with chopped sausage !!
Very disappointed with this......

Pasta can be a pain. You could try letting the pasta cool down and then reheating it. This was on trust me I'm a doctor and seemed to be effective.

Well John, let's make a positive out of a negative..... Looks like the pasta may well be the culprit

I have completely avoided pasta since diagnosis, which is 9 months now. Like Steph says, letting it cool down then reheating can help.

The other option would be to try reducing the portion of pasta!

Could try whole wheat pasta which works better for some

Also could try courgetti instead. They sell it now in most supermarkets in the fresh salad section

And the take home message from this could well be 'more sausage...more veg...less pasta' 😉

Thanks !!

Thanks - will avoid in future or half portion
Hi John, did you or any one else who is type 2 see the Tonight program on ITV last night it is in line with every thing I have posted since I joined the site. With regard to pasta it is a strict no no along with potatoes and bread. the golden rule is that anything grown underground should be avoided or eaten sparingly anything grown above ground ( except grains when cooked, or in cereals) are ok. You need to obtain a book called the 8 week blood sugar diet which has changed my life for the better. You can obtain information on food carbs from the web.
