Some of you may recall I was diagnosed with Macula Oedema a year or so ago. I was due an injection in late March but could not attend as I was in hospital in a different Trust. I informed yh.im.sfbsncr and they made a new appointment
Unfortunately I was still.in.hospitsl and again informed them. Today besides clothed and meds from thr flat brought a six week backlog of mail
I'm it was a letter discharging me from.tjr clinic. I thought the discharge was got people who missed two appointments without informing them. One of the consultants in the hospital I was said he would get a colleague in Opthalmology to contact the clinic I .sm under to see if they could do the injection. Like do many things nothing came of it.

I was also discharged from the ENT Clinic got the same reason. It seems people who write these policies don't think them through!

I think I am.becoming a Grumpy Old Man!.

Really sorry to hear you have been discharged because you missed appointments which you were simply unable to attend. You are right that the system really seems to be stacked against you sometimes. Hope you are able to get through to a real person and get yourself reinstated.

The "rule" is two appointments missed, or changed in any way.

Prior to long trips overseas, I always mention the travel to my Consultant as it is important I remain under her care. Her guidance is if I come to anything like you have received to call her secretary and it will be sorted. A re-referral, and potential prolonged wait, is a nonsense in some cases.

I do hope things can get back on track for you Mikey/

Ugh! @MikeyBikey

What a lot of unecessary faff for you to sort out.

Hopefully you’ll be able to get them to join the dots and realise that your missing the appointments was absolutely unavoidable,

Yeah it can be very unsympathetic too, I had to change appointments more than twice as you don’t get a choice of date even if you know there are dates you can’t do and it clashed with my dad dying then the funeral, on a years waiting list to get back in now even though it’s been a year since my last 6 monthly appointment.

I think it is understandable that you are having a ‘grump’.
I hope that they can get things sorted out and get you back in the system soon.

I understand that and your case seems very unsympathetic all round - especially as your challenges would be easy enough to check out.

Perhaps I am fortunate to have a consultant I get along with who understands my desire to live life to the full, whilst I have the choice. It might have been different if I had been coming straight off the waiting list.

Somebody must have looked at the notes at ENT as I got a letter on their patient mail system with an appointment on 5th August 11.15 which is a sensible time!
Excellent news Mikey. It's good to know the system can work as it should (from a patient care and empathy perspective), rather than from the box-ticking perspective we see far too often.

At last a common sense approach from somebody in the NHS to get your appointment sorted out. Nice to hear you getting some good news for a change Mikey

That is good news @MikeyBikey
Some joined up thinking is encouraging
