Ok so im going to have a cheese omlette for dinner in a bit, my regular dose of insulin for dinner is 15 units(as told by doctor), but since this has little or no carbs should i be reducing this? or should i eat some carbs with it ( i dont really want to)

Thanks x

It is crazy that your team wont let you carb count! If i was you i would just give half the normal dose because you will almost certainly go hypo if you take the full amount for an omelette. You need to tell your team you have to start carb counting very soon! Make sure you check your self for at least 3 hour or so after eating.🙂Bev

p.s. I have just started counting any eggs as 5 carbs each as they do seem to raise the levels.

This is just mental !!!! Makes no sense at all.

I have another friend who bolus' for eggs as well. It goes against the grain as they are not carbs but she knows from experience that for her boys she has to bolus 6 carbs per egg.

Right results are in!

Had cheese and ham omlette with salad and ONE cracker as my flatmate insisted 🙄

I took 10 units novarapid insted of my usual 15 as i was too scared to do any less!

2 hours after = 5.8 and took levemir 20 units
3 hours after = 7.7
4 hours after = 8.6

I dont know what to make of that i only hope they dont rise even more in the night!!!

just dont get what im doing wrong surely these results conclude there was not enough insulin, but ther were hardly any carbs!

Hi DG, you did good! Had you taken the full dose then it's almost certain you would have dropped low. I'm guessing that it's your slow-acting levemir that needs adjusting, and this is the reason that you still need fast-acting even with very low carb meals. Get that doctor in a locked room and don't let him leave until he works it out and lets you start carb-counting!

Hope your levels are good this morning. 🙂

Hi DG those numbers look real good , how are you this morn?

What a fab day. You are getting the hang of it. I think I may agree with northerner possibly about the levemir. Having 10 units for a non carb dinner (ie only one cracker) seems bizarre. Maybe it is those eggs. The only way to test it and see if you need to bolus for eggs is to have another non carb dinner but with no eggs (or cheese). Make it lean ham salad or something.
