Thought I'd get ahead today and start the slow cooker, making a lovely beef casserole with the other 1/2 of the 1/2 price joint I bought (we had other 1/2 roast on Sunday). Started browning a bit of bacon, as per recipe, went to get the beef to cut it up, and realized I'd put it in freezer on Sunday! Arrrhggg. Decided to use the 2 value pork chops from the fridge, chopped up, then thought I might add a tin of Butter beans from my store cupboard, so the meal can serve a potential 4. Of course, no butter beans there, so used the only tin of pulses I had - green lentils! Chucked in the veg, stock, and a few herbs and now hoping for the best 😱

sounds delicious, I hope everyone enjoys it

Some of my culinary truimphs have been of the 'make it up as you go along' variety. Sounds scrummy anyway. Now you have to invent a name for the dish... any ideas??

Should be good. We never use recipes for slow cooker stews, just select roughly the best selection / ratios of ingredients from what we have in fridge / store cupboard.

However, need to test crockpot with just water, after partner put it on gas hob and it cracked into several pieces (I was away for weekend), so he araldited it back together...

Oh dear! Sounds like you might need a new one. Yes, I do often use what's in fridge, but plan what I'll use beforehand to make sure it all goes together. occassionally look at recipes for inspiration. Have now added left-over green beans and boiled potato.
