Digital healthcare app Livi has partnered with over 150 new GP surgeries in a major expansion across England.

The surgeries are spread across Birmingham, Shropshire, Northamptonshire, the south-east, and Surrey.

Previously, the app was being used by practices in north-west Surrey and was available to some 360,000 patients. But the expansion now means that LIVI works with over 200 practices in total and will be accessible to more than 1.85 million patients.

A spokesperson for the app said it comes at a time of 'significant pressure' for primary care networks, and will provide a way to 'take the strain off GPs'.

Mixed feelings, on the one hand any consultation is better than none and won't involve travelling, on other hand what about those not savvy with tech or don't have access to it, not everyone does. OK the app will mean more appointments in the surgery, but not if the drs are to busy doing vids calls.

On the Radio programme You and Yours today (Radio 4, 12:15pm. every week day), they had a discussion and phone in about the difficulty getting a GP appointment. (It'll be available on the BBC website or app to listen to). Someone said this sort of thing will still take GPs time. Some people need hard training to use a microphone.
There could be advantages. For example, for patients who have difficulty getting to the practice.
