Hi all,
I have been taking 1000gm of Metformin (2x500gm) daily for just over 3 weeks. I am now getting constant pain in the sole of my right foot, to the extent that I am limping when I try to walk. I have read about the link between eyes and feet to Metformin, is this how it is???
 
As people can have Type II diabetes for months, even years, before diagnosis sometimes damage to the circulation and/or nerves can occur. You need to get your symptoms checked out by your GP.
 
Thanks, I figured that was the route, but trying to get in my doctors is an absolute nightmare.
 
Er - if it's diabetic neuropathy, as far as I know (and I stress I'm just a very ordinary person with Type 1 diabetes) it's most unusual for it to only occur on one side of the body. Could be worse one side than the other I spose - but I don't know that.

There are risks to feet and eyes related to long term complications of diabetes, but it would more usually develop over a much longer period.

It’s quite tempting (for Drs too!) to associate any ailment, pain or discomfort to the diabetes, but it might be something completely unrelated - so best to get it checked out!

Triage by telephone first, (3 day waiting list) then, and only then, you MAY get an appointment. What did we do before Covid???

My surgery were only doing phone first consultations for the Doctor well before the pandemic.
 
Ours never did anything that useful and still don't I'm afraid. Also now have receptionists who don't have English as their first language who don't speak slowly enough and mutter .......
